Boracay Island which landed the first place in Conde Nast's “Best Island in the World” category (Conde Nast Traveler Reader's Choice Awards 2017) is closing it's doors (airport) to tourists today for 6 months.
Boracay Island famous for its white sandy beach, aptly named 'white beach' by tourists, water sports and diving is closing. The President of the Philippines has approved the 6-month closure of Boracay Island to make way for its rehabilitation, thereby officially closing the destination to foreign and local visitors for 6 months effective 26 April 2018.
In 6 months time the island will re-open again as the Boracay community and the government are implementing sustainable business practices that will maintain Boracay Island to be a world-class destination.
